In keeping with our mission to promote the art of vitreous enameling, the Enamel Guild North East is sponsoring an open call for original enamels from around the world. We seek works in a broad range of styles to highlight the various approaches to this demanding, ancient medium. Submissions may be in any category: jewelry, as well as wall pieces, 3-dimensional pieces, decorative, or utilitarian, as long as vitreous enamel is a major component of the piece and completed within the past 2 years. (Work exhibited in or submitted to Under Fire 4 will not be accepted in Under Fire 5.) All works must be original and produced by the artist. A digital catalogue will also be available to download.

Three Jurors Choice Awards will be selected to receive:
1st place award $500
2nd place award $400
3rd place award $300

• Application deadline: Monday, February 19, 2025.
• Notification of acceptance: March 17, 2025.
• Notification of Jurors Awards: at Virtual Opening reception, March 22, 2025 @ 7pm.
• All works must be original and produced by the artist.
• All works must have been completed in the past 2 years.
• Work exhibited in or submitted to Under Fire 4 will not be accepted in Under Fire 5.
• The call is open to all people, 18 years and older.
• Applicants may submit up to 5 pieces with an additional 3 images for details, if necessary.
• Upload high quality images at 72 dpi, with longest side 1240 dpi.
• Digital images should be cropped to show only your artwork.
• Submitted photos will be for juror selection as well as the online gallery. Poor quality photographs or work not conforming to the submission requirements will not be considered.

Application Fees:
EGNE continues to offer support for the enamelist community by providing an opportunity to share their work. Hence, we strive to set the submission fees low in hopes of encouraging everyone to submit.

$25 EGNE members (Be sure to make sure your membership is current before submitting your work. Otherwise, you will only see the non-member rates).
$65 non-members (TIP: become a member and enter with the discounted member’s fee! See below.)*
$20 students with proof of full-time college attendance (matriculated university programs only). Upon sending your application fee as a student, you will be requested to email proof of college ID and email address. Continuing education classes and workshops do not qualify.

Wednesday, March 27 at 7 pm (EST), a virtual opening reception with panel discussion, What’s Up With Enamels Today?, the jurors will share their observations contemporary enamels, while reflecting on the works submitted for review for Under Fire 5.

  • TIP for non-members: Join EGNE as a member first. Then, as a member, apply and submit your work for the exhibition at the member’s discounted fee. Members also receive discounted rates on our conference and workshops (in-person and/or virtual throughout the year).
