Take a dip – working with liquid enamels
Thursday, May 17 & Friday, May 18, 2018  /  10:00 am – 4:00 pm

pondlife_broochThis workshop is designed for beginners and advanced enamelists who would like to become familiar with a variety of applications utilizing liquid enamels. Liquid enamels offer a cornucopia of aesthetic and technical possibilities. It can be mixed to achieve endless color variations, its viscosity allows for applications on 3-dimensional forms and it is ideal for painterly techniques like sgraffito. We will cover a variety of processes that allow you to prepare the metal surface, like roller printing with the use templates and the creation of textures. Demonstrations include working with copper foils, creating small 3-dimensional forms and finishing techniques as well. This is a hands-on workshop where technical demonstrations will alternate with work time in the studio where you will be able to experiment and incorporate them into your artwork. Participants will be introduced to visual examples of these techniques.
