Pattern on Pattern: Decals and Collage
(Saturday, July 22 & Sunday, July 23)
In this workshop we will experiment with enamel decals of abstract patterns, textures and images, made/provided by the instructor. Working with opaque and transparent enamels, participants will cut and collage decals to create compositions that express each individual’s design aesthetic. Color and enamel applications are an integral part of this process. The decal making process will be explained and sources supplied.

Kathleen Browne grew up in Los Angeles and received her BA in Crafts (Jewelry/Metals) from San Diego State University in 1983 and her MFA (Jewelry/Metalsmithing) from Southern Illinois University-Carbondale in 1986. She is Professor Emerita at Kent State University where she headed the Jewelry/Metals/Enameling Program from 1992-2015. Her artwork has been exhibited widely both in the U.S. and abroad (225+ exhibitions) at such venues as Schmuck, Munich (2003); Museum of Arts and Design, NYC (2014); The British Crafts Council (2011); and Sieraad International Jewellery Fair, Amsterdam (2013).
Browne’s work has been featured in thirteen books and reviewed and/or reproduced in numerous publications including a cover and feature article in Metalsmith magazine in 2006. She has written reviews, articles and catalogue essays for various publications and has delivered papers at two conferences of the Society of North American Goldsmiths (SNAG) and The College Art Association (CAA). She is the recipient five Artist Fellowship Grants from the Ohio Arts Council and is a Distinguished Scholar at Kent State University.

Refunds and Cancellations
Workshop fees are refundable up to June 25, 2017 (less a 10% administrative fee); after June 25, 2017 the administrative fee increases to 25%. Workshop cancellation notification must be made in writing (email is preferable). Workshop fees will not be refunded after July 6, 2017 if the resulting vacancy cannot be filled.
