In this workshop, we will explore ways to use vitreous enamels to create rich textural surfaces. Emphasis will be on creating a variety of textures through experimentation with metal forming and enamel firing techniques, including sugar-firing and over-firing techniques and firing down non-traditional materials such as cubic zirconia, sand, reflective glass beads, frit, and glass microbeads. We will move beyond the traditional glossy fired enamel surface to create intriguing tactile surfaces.
