Barbara Seidenath’s brilliant technical skills are evident in her hand fabricated jewelry. Inspired by nature, she constantly investigates and explores sculptural forms and designs with enamels, precious metals, quartz and gems. Born and raised in Munich, Germany, Seidenath studied jewelry making at the State School for Glass and Jewelry in Neugablonz, Germany, and received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Goldsmithing from that program, followed by a Masters of Fine Arts from the Academy of Fine Arts, Munich, Germany, where she studied with the renowned jeweler, Herman Jünger.

Barbara Seidenath has generously shared her time and knowledge with workshops, presentations and seminars in the U.S. and abroad, teaching at the Rhode Island School of Design, Providence, RI for nearly two decades. Her teaching experiences include the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston and the Massachusetts College of Art and Design, Boston.

In keeping with their mission to promote the art of vitreous enameling, the Enamel Guild North East is sponsoring an open call for work that demonstrates the broadest range of enamel applications possible. Recognizing the ever-expansive role enamel is enjoying in contemporary works, this exhibition seeks to demonstrate an exceptional knowledge, understanding, and usage of the material. Works that are primarily enameled that were completed within the past two years in all forms of the genre will be accepted, embracing traditional as well as experimental methods. All categories of work will be considered including jewelry, wall pieces, sculpture, vessels, etc

Application Process:

  • open to the international community 18 years old and over
  • applicants may submit up to 5 images
  • application deadline: September 15, 2015
