Workshop with Jan Harrell

There are still a few seats left in this awesome workshop. The techniques taught in this workshop also work well when incorporating high contrast photos and text into your work. You can see workshop images by visiting Enamel Guild North East on Facebook.Under Fire with Jan Harrell
Friday, October 19 & Saturday, October 20, 2018
Workshop Hours: 10 AM-4 PM
Location: Worcester Center For Crafts
Cost: $295*
In this information packed 2-day workshop, learn some exciting new advances in mark-making for enamelists. Each participant will process two letter size screens, 8 ½ x 11 with a 110 DPI opening. Many small designs can be fit on to one sheet or a large pattern can fill the entire page. Strong contrasting black and white images work best with the grey tones eliminated. Copyright free material like Dover clip art work well for the screen designs. Jan will bring some images that can be used so your workshop time can be best used experimenting with this process. Once the screens are exposed, the fun begins!

There are so many ways to use this process which will allow you to wrap imagery, create elaborate stencils, incorporate fonts and so much more! This easy and inexpensive screen process is an exciting new addition to augment traditional enameling techniques and is appropriate for small scale jewelry work along with panels and sculptural scale objects. These screens can be used to directly screen on flat forms but also are utilized to create decals that can be adhered to dimensional forms.

Jan brings a wealth of enamel information that has been refined from her 25 years of teaching and enameling at the Glassell School of Art in Houston, Texas.

*An additional $10 fee paid to instructor in class; screens also available for purchase. Thompson unleaded enamels will also be available for purchase.
