The EGNE offers regular workshops in conjunction with our annual conference. When possible, we  offer occasional special workshops for our members based  on interest and availability of faculty and facilities convenient for our members.

We are please to announce that Summer 2017 we will be offering:

tuscanyLinda-3Linda  Darty – Cloisonné: The Brilliance of Transparent Enamel

(Thursday, July 20 & Friday, July 21)

Both beginning and advanced students will learn basic application and firing techniques with opaque and transparent enamels as well as how to embellish the surfaces with mark making techniques, creating imagery, textures, and patterns. Methods for shading with regular enamel, watercolor enamels, acrylic enamels, graphite, underglazes, and china paints will be shown and students can explore the materials they like best. Students of all levels can choose to make samples for further study or focus on several jewelry scale pieces in this 2-day class.

Linda  Darty – Painting and Drawing Techniques with Enamel

(Saturday, July 22 & Sunday, July 23)

Explore the rich beauty of cloisonné enameling, developing and expanding your artistic skills. In this class, students will practice shading with transparent and opalescent enamels on small jewelry scale pieces of copper or silver. We will focus on blending colors to achieve value gradations, luminosity and depth and we will learn to use foil beneath colors. Hand finishing enamels and setting options will also be discussed. Students will be challenged to work at their own level of experience

Kathleen_BrowneKathleen Browne – Pattern on Pattern: Decals and Collage

(Saturday, July 22 & Sunday, July 23)

In this workshop we will experiment with enamel decals of abstract patterns, textures and images, made/provided by the instructor. Working with opaque and transparent enamels, participants will cut and collage decals to create compositions that express each individual’s design aesthetic. Color and enamel applications are an integral part of this process. The decal making process will be explained and sources supplied.
